The Founders of Chico Malo Are Planning Wren & Wolf in Downtown Phoenix
Wren & Wolf dining room in Downtown Phoenix, designed by Peter Bowden and PETERMAX Co., with a theatrical arrangement of taxidermy, sculptural lighting, curved banquettes, and rich wood detailing.
The founders of Chico Malo are developing Wren & Wolf, a new all-day restaurant concept in Downtown Phoenix. Located at the corner of Washington Street and First Avenue, the project is being created by Teddy Myers, Katie Myers, and Thor Nguyen as a new hospitality concept separate from Chico Malo.
Designed by Peter Bowden and PETERMAX Co., Wren & Wolf is envisioned as multiple dining experiences within one restaurant. The concept is planned to serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails, small plates, and late-night offerings, allowing the atmosphere and menu to shift throughout the day.
The interior is designed to feel intimate, theatrical, and deliberately different from a conventional restaurant. The rendering shows a long dining room framed by curved banquettes, dark wood walls, an arched ceiling, suspended globe lights, oversized pendant lamps, and a dramatic collection of taxidermy birds and animals.
The design uses taxidermy as part of the restaurant’s visual identity, creating an atmosphere that is mysterious, slightly eccentric, and connected to the Wren & Wolf name. Layered lighting and warm materials soften the darker palette and give the large space a more intentional, immersive character.
Wren & Wolf is planned as a sister restaurant to Chico Malo, but the two concepts will operate with different investors and distinct hospitality identities. The restaurant is intended to become the first major concept for Pretty Decent Concepts, with the group planning to develop additional original restaurants in Downtown Phoenix.
