You Can Sip and “Travel” in This Immersive Cocktail Experience Inspired by the Golden Age of Aviation

My Modern Met takes readers inside Carry On, the immersive cocktail experience in Downtown Phoenix that recreates the glamour and excitement of 1960s air travel. The publication highlights the project’s richly detailed interior, designed in collaboration with Peter Bowden of PETERMAX Co.
Warm wood paneling, leather seating, chrome accents, curved aircraft-inspired architecture, and simulated airplane windows transform the space into a private-aircraft environment rather than a conventional cocktail lounge. The article describes the experience as a 90-minute “journey,” with cocktails inspired by departure and arrival destinations and a menu that changes as the simulated flight progresses.
My Modern Met also recounts its editor-in-chief’s firsthand experience of Carry On, praising the immersive environment and execution from boarding through the end of the “flight.” Together, the interior design, service, and cocktail program turn the space into a theatrical hospitality experience built around the romance of mid-century aviation.
