12 Last-Minute Memorial Day Weekend Escapes | Domino

Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina in Newport, Rhode Island, featuring hospitality interiors designed by Peter Max Bowden and PETERMAX Co.

Peter Maxwell Bowden of PETERMAX Co. remodels the Gurney’s Newport resort into a coveted vacation destination, rooted in breezy, nautical design.

Domino included Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina in its roundup of 12 last-minute Memorial Day weekend escapes, highlighting the resort’s location on Goat Island and its uninterrupted views across Narragansett Bay.

Most importantly, the article credits design group PETERMAX with the property’s newly refreshed lobby and guest rooms. The work formed part of the former Hyatt Regency’s transformation into a 257-room waterfront resort with a marina, pool deck, restaurants, fitness center and spa.

The feature positions the Newport property as a polished New England destination shaped by its coastal surroundings and renewed through Peter Max Bowden’s hospitality design work.
