A maritime-inspired guestroom at Gurney’s Newport Resort, where PETERMAX Co. translated the character of Goat Island and coastal Newport into an understated interior of organic materials, clean-lined furnishings, locally inspired artwork and nautical found objects.

LODging Magazine announced the opening of Gurney’s Newport Resort following an $18 million transformation of the former Hyatt Regency on Goat Island. The nearly 10-acre waterfront property became the second location for the expanding Gurney’s hospitality brand.

PETERMAX Co. designed all 257 guestrooms around a maritime aesthetic rooted in the resort’s Newport setting. Organic materials, a muted coastal palette, locally inspired art and authentic found objects create subtle connections to the city’s nautical history while maintaining a clean, contemporary character.

The renovated resort also introduced new dining and entertainment destinations, including Scarpetta, Corso, The Regent Cocktail Club and The Pineapple Club, alongside a 22-slip marina and expanded waterfront amenities.
