Mexican Restaurant’s Design Includes a Rope Canopy and Chainsaw Wood Mural

Vegas Inc features Javier’s at ARIA through a design-focused interview with Peter Bowden. The article centers on the restaurant’s atmosphere, visual strategy and theatrical details, including the rope canopy over the bar and the chainsaw-carved wood mural.
Bowden describes the challenge of making a 9,000-square-foot restaurant feel intimate while still standing out from the surrounding casino. The design uses vignettes, arches, layered sightlines and large-scale focal elements to keep guests visually engaged from one end of the space to the other.
The feature also explores the story behind Javier’s Mayan-inspired mural, the glowing hostess moment, hidden charging stations at the bar and the decision to use bold custom elements that pull guests in from across the casino floor.
