ABC15 previews Roman God of Fire, the new 8,000-square-foot Italian restaurant from Pretty Decent Concepts in downtown Tempe. The article directly credits Peter Bowden of PETERMAX Design with an interior conceived to transport guests beyond the Valley through classical statuary, arches and cathedral-like architectural details.
The design treats the restaurant as a complete environment rather than a collection of decorative references. Monumental sculptures, deeply coffered wood, draped ceilings, dark columns and glowing stone surfaces establish a sense of grandeur, while curved banquettes and pools of warm light bring the scale back down around each table.
The restaurant’s culinary program brings together Pretty Decent Concepts, chef Scott Conant and SC Culinary. Its Roman-inspired menu centers on wood-fired cooking and handmade pasta, complementing an interior designed around ritual, abundance and shared experience.
The article also introduces Mea Culpa, a hidden cocktail chapel accessed through a confessional.
