Amaya Opens at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
PETERMAX Co.’s design for Amaya Modern Mexican pairs a softly illuminated curved banquette with dense tropical planting and a dramatic, undulating wood installation inspired by patterns in raked sand. The layered wall treatment connects the restaurant, bar and lounge while warm concealed lighting, dark woven chairs and intimate table settings create the romantic atmosphere of a refined Yucatán retreat within The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Restaurant Development + Design profiles Amaya Modern Mexican, the 7,180-square-foot restaurant, bar and lounge created by Clique Hospitality for Gen3 Hospitality at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The publication specifically credits Peter Max Bowden and PETERMAX Co. with crafting the restaurant’s immersive interior.
Designed to evoke the lush, tropical elegance of the Yucatán Peninsula, the space combines low romantic lighting, tree-canopied dining areas and abundant greenery with a sweeping wood wall installation that mimics the movement of raked sand. An oversized chandelier composed of thousands of shells forms a luminous centerpiece above the dining room.
The article describes the finished environment as both calming and extravagant—a combination of Las Vegas energy and the spirit of modern Mexican coastal cuisine. Led by Michelin-starred chef Jason McLeod, Amaya complements the interior with citrus-forward ceviches, aged tequilas, live performances and DJs.
