New Lounge dLeña ROJA Added to Recently Opened Restaurant
dLeña ROJA, an homage to the art of fine tequila and mezcal, and its inviting lounge space. Warm wood, rich leather seating and an enveloping amber glow establish the intimate, after-hours character of the PETERMAX Co.-designed lounge beneath dLeña in Washington, D.C.
The Washington Informer introduces dLeña ROJA, the lower-level mezcal lounge that opened shortly after its sister restaurant, dLeña Wood-Fire Mexican Cocina & Mezcaleria, in Washington’s Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood.
Designed by PETERMAX Co., ROJA was conceived to feel like the private drinking room of a Mexican dignitary—a secluded setting for conversation over smoky mezcal or tequila. Its warm brown palette pairs rich leather banquettes with tambour wood walls, collected artwork and handcrafted hangings sourced from Oaxaca, Querétaro and other locations across Mexico and beyond.
The lounge includes 44 custom tequila lockers and a library of more than 300 spirits. Accommodating up to 50 seated guests or 90 standing, ROJA can host intimate gatherings and private events and may be entered through dLeña or from its own entrance on 5th Street NW.
